"This global competition unites the creativity of the RISD community and the power of private sector supporters to support innovative, scalable solutions and highlight the urgent need to focus on collaboration between art, science, design and engineering." (Rhode Island School of Design)
The Terra Carta Design Lab is a global Design competition sponsored by the Sustainable Marketing initiative (SMI). I worked with Core Team to support the process for RISD alumni and students who are entering the competition. In my project coordination role, I had the opportunity to bring my voice to the visual identity, branding, and design process.
In collaboration with Xubai Li and under the supervision of the Vrinda Mathur and Sara Ossana, we conceptualized the design of environmental graphics for a special exhibition. I created the layouts for 5 of the 10 banners designed for each of the ten finalist teams. The banners, measured at 24in x 60in, summarize of each project, its purpose, and how each submission aligns with SMI's mission statement. The goal of the banners was to connect all of the unique projects under a consistent visual language that represents RISD's unique identity and voice. We integrated RISD's branding system in the colors and typography, and used shapes to create variety and dimension. The teams each created a pattern for their banner to add an individual touch.
